Unfortunately, the Google Chromecast has only a single USB-C port to power the device. If you connect it to the TV, that's usually enough. But when connected to a monitor it's quite limiting, the sound has to be either built into the monitor or you have to connect it via Bluetooth. A regular USB-C hub will add more USB ports, but it will take a single port to power the Chromecast. This device is the solution. And there's also an RJ45 port option if you don't want to connect the Chromecast to the LAN over WiFi, but via cable.
