Functionality depends not only on the device but also on the port used. For example. On one port it works without charging as a USB hub, on the other port it needs a charger, probably because the port supports HDMI.

It works nicely and does what it's supposed to do - but only if a USB-C charger is permanently connected to it. If it's not, it's completely dead, you can't do anything.
I don't know if this was a defect of my piece only or it is a general problem of this model, but there is no mention of it in the description. Anyway, it's a major problem for me, so unfortunately I'm going back.
(Tested with Samsung phone (S22Ultra). )

To work, a charger must be permanently connected to it. Nothing goes without it.
