The sensor does indeed sense a wide range but that may not be a bad thing, it may make the pet go for a drink. It is really a pity that the water does not fall from a higher point but only from the beak under the sensor. I had for years PetSafe Drinkwell 360, which had an ultra noisy pump but you have to take into account that it took a lot of water and still ran it through the filter. So for someone living in a studio apartment or shared housing, this is a great thing that won't interfere with falling asleep or staying asleep! I would have liked it if the water had drained quickly and not stuck to the surface, this way I had to line it with paper.
