as they write the opening mechanism is ok for an adult hand, not for a small child of 4 years. I had to edit it to open it, but it's a struggle: ( / further dtest doesn't rate this product the best, unfortunately the test came out later than I bought it. I would choose a different solution. the best place to try it on is in a children's shop, which I didn't do: ( after 2 months the hinge broke and the door fell out, temporarily repaired with a belt and advertised, the rest fulfils its function
it has a locking for perpendicular opening (without locking I have another one and it is a nuisance that it always closes by itself, i.e. it cannot be left open)
after approx. 2 months of use the top hinge broke off, probably the product is not durable. We have an older daughter who struggles with it, but it should be sturdy anyway, it's in permanence on the stairs and it prevents a 15 month old daughter from climbing up the stairs unsupervised.
the opening mechanism is for an adult hand, but the whole thing, i.e. press from the bottom, slide the flap from the top and lift it up, for an adult toy for a 4 year old child a struggle. so I had to seal the bottom packing with cardboard. even so, the older child struggles.
in dtest this product got a worse rating, unfortunately they tested later than I bought: ( I'd like to have another one with better results
the claim is pending, but they (alza) want me to send it. which is what I need it to do to defend. I don't want to buy a new one to cover the claim, I repaired it temporarily with cardboard and I will probably tighten it with plastic ties. it still works somehow. I want them to send me a replacement part for money, but I have to fix it right away, not wait for a claim: ( (send back etc) I'm taking it up with the manufacturer so we'll see.
