. if the manual says that the user should "protect" the thermometer sensor from dirt, then OK, it is understandable (a dirty probe will cause a wrong measurement).. But in that case, why doesn't the manufacturer supply a simple cap on the probe head, like e.g. on sprays (hairspray, shaving foam, etc. ). The height of impracticality in terms of thermometer storage!
