Pairing with wifi router takes about 2-3 min (simple instructions included). It is then permanent and does not need to be reconfigured in any way. We have it in a socket in the kids' room - it covers the whole room and adjacent rooms (the signal can pass through thick stone walls). When I want wifi in the pergola, I simply pull it out of the socket in the kid's house, plug it into the socket in the pergola and that's it - no new setup - it works instantly.
