I recommend leaving a gap of about 2 mm, do not tighten tightly. There must be a little slack. But I recommend to put some hard rubber on the end of both hooks, I used about 2,5-3 cm piece of hard garden hose. If you let it simmer for a while in hot water, it softens and it goes on well. It will harden after it has cooled. It doesn't rattle against the towing eye when towing, but the rubber/hose dampens it very well.
