The maximum temperature is reset automatically at 8:00 every day, the minimum temperature at 20:00 every day. Therefore, the time must be set after the battery is inserted. But the thermometer itself doesn't show it then, so I'm not going to shift it when I change to daylight saving time, whether my min/max temperatures reset an hour earlier or later doesn't matter.
