I've helped a few cars with STPcek, diesel or petrol. for cars in worse condition noticeable improvement after a few kilometres, with fuel problems once the mix is in the engine, for cars in good condition and with good quality fuel only a slight difference due to the increase in octane/ cetane number

Functional with lower quality petrols.
Unnecessary or even inappropriate for high quality gasoline.
