I got the massage roller as a spare for weekends at my mom's. This is my fourth roll, so I dare say I know what I need and expect from the product. The roller is beautifully hard and light. But I see the problem in the shape itself - it is not "perfectly round" in cross section, there are foam protrusions in different shapes/sizes on the cylinder. Specifically, the elongated foam protrusions result in the roller being rather slightly elliptical in cross section, so when I use it to roll my back on the ground, it goes very badly, because the roller has to "flip" to the other side, the movement is not only not smooth, but it is difficult to do when you need to lie on the roller and only use your body weight to roll on it. So I recommend you consider what you are going to use the cylinder for. I kept it because it's just a "weekend" thing, but if I had to use it every day, I would definitely return it.
