I solve the pairing problem by putting them in the charging dock, and holding the buttons on the headphones. After they start flashing, I pull them out and they pair themselves.
Battery life after a year of daily use is around 6 hours for both handsets
I keep dropping them on the floor, and they still work.

My initial slight concern about whether the headphones would stick in my ears and whether I would hear ambient noise if they weren't completely tight in the ear canal immediately disappeared. Normal movement with headphones is perfectly safe, I dare to run with them. The ears "breathe", they do not steam.
