I find it rather unfortunate that Alza groups reviews for all hdd's of the same name regardless of their size and age. So most of the reviews here are on models that have long been discontinued. The performance to price ratio for this drive is good. But if he falls asleep after a short period of inactivity, it takes him about half a minute to wake up, which is quite time-consuming. The subsequent speed is then ok. Beware that the disk comes formatted with the exFAT format, which is used on flash drives and does not support even such basic data loss prevention measures as journaling. Unfortunately, I only noticed it after I filled it with data. And since there is effectively no reliable way to reformat a disk from exFAT to NTFS without losing data, I wasted time doing the work I had to do again.
