As other buyers have already written, the disc is not entirely of high quality. When copying data to it, the speed was low and in some places dropped to almost 0 (a competing WD with the same capacity whizzed by at twice the speed and without drops to 0). Bad sectors are probably to blame. I recommend paying more for something better.

It is the third disc of the same brand. And the biggest. (One of them stopped working after years of use. ) This 8 TB variant was a rather unfortunate purchase. I use it as a backup disk for multimedia files. Unfortunately, when copying from a 4TB or 6TB drive, the file transfer speed gradually decreases until the drive becomes completely unresponsive. Tried repeatedly as an internal drive on a Dell PC under win10. Repeatedly deleting the partition and creating a new one with the format to NTFS does not help. The situation is slightly better on the same PC with Linux. (Debian. Arch also has problems with this disk for some reason. ) In the comfortable GParted environment, you can define exactly how the disk should look. Converted to ext4 (preparation takes longer). Copying in the order of hundreds of GB starts at a speed of around 100-120MB/s, gradually decreases, after a few hours it is only units of MB/s. But it doesn' t harden anymore! (Yet).
I wanted to complain immediately, now I' m giving it one last chance under debian: (If you are looking for a large backup disk, pay extra for a more powerful one or another brand.
