After receiving your 990 Pro, I recommend installing Samsung Magician as soon as possible and checking the firmware in the module is up to date. In those earlier versions, they had a pretty serious problem with a badly configured controller. With the latest version of FW it works as it should and all critical problems have been fixed.
Personally, I probably like M.2 drives from Samsung the best (in one PC I have a 970 Pro with MLC and in the other two of these modules with denser TLC), I have not had any serious problem with them
of course the speed (for games or for working with big data ideal) - I tried it on a board in a PCIe Gen.4 slot and luxury, but anyway I put it in the end in a PC with Gen.3, where the speed is limited to 3.5 GB / s, and so the drive does not run at its full speed (at least it will load the bus properly and will not heat up more)

Samsung Magician software - where you can find detailed information about installed Samsung SSD modules, various tools for setting them up, checking for firmware updates, disk tests and benchmarks
comparably the same chip life (on paper) as the 970 Pro
maybe some people will be bothered by the higher temperature under load, but if you have at least a cooling pad on it or you have good air circulation there, there is nothing to worry about, it's normal
sometimes, when the PC runs in silence (without the need to turn on the fans), I hear the classic coil whine (but it's with every Samsung chip and basically every manufacturer has it, they just don't have it figured out). Not many people make those drives 100% silent, and if they do, they usually even write directly to the SSD that they have it silenced
I think that the architecture used in the 970 Pro is better than in the 990 Pro (it has direct access), but I think that they had to choose a denser variant of chips and cached controller on purpose because of the large capacity, which you basically can't even notice during normal use, but I hesitated to buy it because of that and rather choose the 970 Pro again, but in the end I am satisfied with the 990 Pro

The disk is used as a system disk for applications and games and is used a lot. I recommend upgrading the Firmware. This is possible even if you have data on it you won't lose anything. Even as a boot disk. It's decently fast and totally suits me. Ideally, put a cooler on it either from the motherboard or purchased.
