I bought the oil on a trial basis because Alza stopped selling Mobil 1 FS 0W40. Although the Ravenol brand is very popular, for me this oil does not reach the quality of Mobil 1. After 12,000 miles, I started to experience more mechanical noise at idle and low rpm. I accept that my turbo engine running on LPG puts more strain on the engine oil. That's why I don't skimp on the oil and got the more expensive Ravenol instead. However, the mechanical noise before the end of the service interval scared me so much that next time I'd rather not put Ravenol in the engine. The engine is again Mobil 1 FS 0W40 and even after 15 000 km the engine is beautifully quiet. Ravenol SSF will probably be designed to reduce frictional losses rather than maximise engine protection.
