My daughter drank beautifully from the cup right away, but it must not be tilted at all when carrying it in the bag, otherwise it leaks. The lid doesn't leak, it's just there to keep the drinker from getting dirty. Therefore, I recommend it only for home use, if you don't mind puddles here and there if you put it down incorrectly and throw it away. The drinker can also be easily chewed, but you can't buy a replacement.
