The scale is supposed to have automatic shutdown after 2 min. Idle. However - it was switching off, even when I weighed in small parts and the weighing took too long. I then found that the scale shuts off after 2 minutes, regardless of whether you are working with it or not! But if you're careful, it can be survived without psychological harm.
