I use it with my OptiPlex 5050 to make an openmedialvault NAS. If you really need SMART self-checks, the USB controller will filter those commands and no tests and not even temperature data will be collected. The manual says there is a Windows app that might show some disk info or something, however, in my case I can't use it with my OMV PC.
