An engaging book written in the style of hard-boiled American crime fiction, i.e. in the style of Chandler, Hammett, etc.
The first quarter drags on a bit; it consists of numerous conversations in which subtle hints are dropped without the right questions being asked about the most obvious issues.
The ending is rather vague; I had to read it several times to understand it. It’s a bit like a rabbit pulled out of a hat for which there’s no hutch prepared in the preceding plot.
