Don't buy!
On all other platforms there is no problem to play on multiplayer servers without restrictions after purchasing a license. Only here you have to pay monthly for a Nintento subscription, without it you can't play on any server, even locally hosted ones.
Immediately after discovering this, I packed the game back up and sent it back to alza, who refused to refund my money.
This fact is not pointed out to you anywhere, you can only read it on the reddit when you are looking for reasons why the game won't let you access the server list.
