When using the individual burners for the first time, you have to push the burner control knobs from above and turn them enough to get them going, if you press them only lightly the burner flame may go out.
Then everything works perfectly.
PS: you will not read this in the installation and use instructions and you may be unpleasantly surprised if the burners go out after lighting.
