Another breathtaking saga, but this time much more brutal. Rape, sex, torture, killing, dying – everything that belongs in this series. Not for younger readers. The story takes place somewhere completely different from the first book, and only a handful of characters from the first one appear (the third book brings them back). It's a bit of a challenging read again, but if you've read the first book, the second will make more sense. Even so, I recommend taking notes and going back to some of the "suspicious" moments. The book is said to contain a shock on the level of the Red Wedding from Game of Thrones. That's not true. There are a number of shocks, and the biggest one mostly just ends the suffering of the most annoying characters. You'll see for yourselves.
Successful translation (natural language)
Interesting content (engaging topic)
A continuation of the great first book
The story continues somewhere completely different to the first book (it only returns in the third). Most of the characters are new.

I hope there will be more episodes. I've read the whole thing three times now and listening to it is just great. It's very well done. There is a complete deconstruction of the myth at work here. This isn't Tolkien or other such tales. Erikson shows us what remains after the total deconstruction of the myth and manages to grasp it and work with it further. The world is absolutely brilliantly thought out. It's not an easy fantasy read for kids, coming at you from everywhere, and it's utterly silly. This is a gem. This is how it's supposed to look. The bad thing is that it leaves a hole in your heart that no other fantasy can fill.
