For this price, the laptop clearly does not match the premium feel of its materials. It is indeed extremely powerful, but that is its only real advantage. If tactile experience matters to you, the ASUS Zephyrus is far superior in that regard. The speakers sound very flat and terrible. At first I thought it was a driver issue, but that is just how they are. The webcam is also very basic. Can anyone explain why phones for 500 EUR have better sound and camera than a 4000 EUR laptop, and why they didn’t even bother including a fingerprint scanner at this price?! The display is good, but it suffers from strong glare in bright environments, which essentially cancels out its advantages compared to IPS. It performs best in low-light conditions, which is not very good for the eyes. If you use it as a desktop replacement, you could ignore these issues, but it is not that simple. Unfortunately, the battery is always being used, even when the laptop is plugged in and the 400W power adapter is more than sufficient. This is a very poor policy by Lenovo, wasting battery lifespan even when it is not needed. Even the conservation mode is limited to 75-80%, whereas for maximum longevity it should be 60% max.
Even in conservation mode, under high performance load, the battery still drains and recharges repeatedly, which is quite stupid. You can remove the battery and the laptop will still work, but you will lose about 50% of performance in games, with the GPU limited to around 90W instead of 175W. Also, Lenovo’s software is far from good: there are many bugs, they are not fixed quickly, and it is unclear if they will ever be fixed. However, this is a general issue with all Windows laptops, not just Lenovo. Unfortunately, you often just have to live with many bugs without ever seeing them resolved. It is truly a good laptop, and I would recommend it if performance is your priority. Otherwise, it is unlikely to evoke any WOW emotions.
