A basket is a basket. Automatic opening and closing works, but. If you get flies nesting in the basket, especially vinegar flies or similar, they will lay larvae on the bottom of the lid, in the screw holes and even inside where the electronics and sensors are. I have repeatedly tried to eradicate these things, but because they hid inside the lid I had to disassemble it, put it in the dishwasher and of course this destroyed the electronics. It is now usable without the electronics, after I reassembled it and sealed all possible holes where flies could nest. I would recommend that the manufacturer seal all these holes and give access to the batteries outside, away from the basket.
