I've had the basket for over 2 years and still have working sensors. Anyway, the buttons don't work anymore, but the sensor does. The basket otherwise works great, the only drawback here that one has to be careful with and which is also a stumbling block of failures, is the moisture in the basket. The battery compartment is not well sealed, I recommend to stuff it with something, as it will start to corrode and the basket may go wrong. If the bin is already wet on the inside, it is better to open it or throw the waste away and let it dry, this will prevent damage to the bin's electronics.
After 4 months the automatic lid stopped working. At first I thought it was the batteries, but when after changing the batteries the lid started making all sorts of noises, I realized that this invention from my comrades in China was broken.
