Fingerprints are stored directly on the device and are protected by a PIN. The device can be used for FIDO2 user verification, and the PIN and fingerprint management is done via CTAP2. It works for me for sudo, gdm login, and unsealing LUKS full-disk encryption (Ubuntu 26.10, pam_u2f). Bus 001 Device 012: ID 047d:813f Kensington VeriMark(TM) Guard 2.1 USB-C Fingerprint Security Key. It cannot be integrated into fprintd because the fingerprints never leave the device – for PIN and fingerprint administration, I used Cormoran96/vmguard as a starting point.
Small dimensions, sticks out tolerably enough
Adheres to standards, easily integrates (U2F V2, FIDO 2.0/2.1/2.1 PRE)
It is reasonably easy to get up and running under Linux
Could be a bit cheaper

Quick setup with Windows 11
It doesn't work with Android 16; the phone doesn't recognise it when plugged in
