The fountain is great, the cat drinks from it. It must be min. once a week, but I suppose that's obvious. However, after 2 years of not using it, what I evaluate as very negative is the fact that you can't buy replacement filters for this fountain anywhere on the internet. Therefore, I would recommend choosing another fountain where replacement filters are available.
