If the power goes out or you trip the fuses and the power comes back on, it immediately starts heating on its own, even if you've switched it off so the display is off. It can wake itself up at any time and start heating. Just buy something else, but don't buy this. If you do buy it, then EVERY SINGLE TIME, UNPLUG IT FROM THE SOCKET! Otherwise, in the worst-case scenario, your flat will burn down if it catches fire after the water has evaporated. We bought it, turned it completely off so the display was off, went out, and came back 2 hours later, and the kettle was running, already without any water. Just don't buy it. We would have returned it, but be careful with the spout where you pour coffee from – it's made of glass, and you just have to bump it or knock it against anything, the glass is very, very delicate, and the spout will simply break, which is what happened to us. Just don't buy it, this kettle is complete rubbish.
