The newer Samsung TV had a need to recognize the device due to the remote control, which of course bore, but it still works, but the installation was a bit rough.

In my experience, this product does not appear to comply with the full HDMI 2.0 specification.
When connected to a Macbook Air M1 2020 laptop, the entire OS slows down extremely. Background processes involve Spotlight and take full advantage of ~ 3 CPU cores. The computer is unusable in this state.
When connecting an external UHD 4K monitor that supports HDMI 2.0, and therefore should support 60 Hz via HDMI, only UHD 4K @ 30 Hz can be set in OS X. HDMI 2.0 support appears to be incomplete or incompatible with OS X or the MacBook Air M1.
The product description does not mention any of these shortcomings.
