After eight years, I replaced my perfectly functional Yugoslav dishwasher, which I’d chosen based on the criterion ‘the more sets of crockery it can hold, the better’. Now I’m a bit sorry that I ticked the box for ‘collection of old appliance’. The Haier dishwasher can only hold about half our crockery; I put that down to the fact that we don’t eat out of bowls with chopsticks, but use traditional porcelain from Sweden, just like the Yugos. Forks and cutlery knives should be placed at an angle; they’re wider than the cutlery drawer. It’s nice that the drawer can be easily removed, but who would want to do that? I want to take the cutlery (I’m sorting it by type, the Swedish way, of course) and put it in the drawer. The wine glass holder is out of the question too; I don’t know what you drink sake from – we drink red wine, and I just have to wash the glasses by hand as we’ve got a new dishwasher. Washing performance is OK. An app on your phone? So it’s quite fun, but when the programme for dog bowls gave me the choice between ‘very slobbery’ or ‘less slobbery’ and nothing else, I reckoned that AI washing probably wasn’t for me. When the top drawer is full, the lid into which the polish is poured catches on it and opens almost every time. But apart from that, it’s fine – we’re getting used to it: )
