I have been looking for some new Pebble watches that could fully replace this brand, but so far I have not succeeded. I expect the smart watch to last longer than a day, I will be able to read notifications from the phone, I will be able to control the music that is playing on the phone and I will be able to record my training / running / cycling.
I tried the watch with Google Wear for a while, but I was disappointed by the endurance and it overwhelmed everything that made the watch more of a phone, and that' s something that' s rather uninteresting for me. I' ve had a similar experience with watches from Samsung, they lasted a little longer, but again a bunch of apps that were more like messing up the style of “hey, I have a gameboy in my watch (but it' s unplayable on display)“.
I have been using various Amazfit watches for a long time. Specifically, Bip came to me very similar to those of Pebble and especially lasted a long time. After a while, I thought that I would like to restore it, because other updates were no longer coming out and my watch somehow looked good. So I switched to Amazfit GTR 2e. I was excited about them. Huge endurance (almost 2 weeks) and a large clear display. But what I didn' t test properly was their ability to record outdoor exercises, where I unfortunately found that their GPS was generally badly set up and thus poorly caught, and in the city among the barracks it is de facto impossible for it to catch at all, so I started looking after something new and better.
I' ve often heard that it' s Garmin who have great measurements, but they were quite expensive for me (watches over 10,000 are too much for me). It occurred to me that this watch is more for professional athletes - not for me. But then I discovered a compromise in the form of this watch, for which I am writing a review. I hesitated a lot, but in the end I decided to give it a try.
Upon receipt, I struggled a lot with the initial setup of both the watch and the application itself. It took 1-2 days before I finally found out where I would set what I really want to see on the watch and in the application, which cost me quite a few nerves and I wanted to return the watch. But after the initial setup, I was amazed day by day what the watch can do, how accurately it measures during and outside the activities, how beautiful the display is and, most importantly, how reliable it works. I was literally derailed by the ability to record exercise exercises (either from Garmin or in-app) directly into the watch, where you can even watch how to do the exercise. I was also surprised by the accuracy of stress measurement, when under heavy load the watch alerts me and offers me breathing exercises. Quite similar is the measurement of sleep, again I get recommendations for better sleep or praise that I met the goal. My previous experience with other watches was that this information was described in more detail in the mobile application and it said “hey dude, you' re quite stressed, you should do something about it, but I won' t tell you what at all“. Or “well, you' ve slept enough, try better next time“. Suddenly, all previous sports watches seem like mere toys that will measure something for you, but in reality they won' t help you much or motivate you to improve so much. I tested the watch while running and swimming in the indoor pool, and I gathered so much accurate data that I had to googlit.
Well, to sum it up, I definitely recommend these Garminky to everyone who expects smart features from smart watches (not smartphone replacement), detailed and accurate recording of sports activities and great endurance. I believe that you will be as satisfied as I am and that you will want to stay with this brand for some time.
(. hmmm, smart weight from Garmin? What? So I' m probably selling my old one here ?: D)
