Admittedly the material is flexible, so it may fit better after extended wear, but overall these glasses are uncomfortable to wear. The light is about as dim as a slightly darker pair of sunglasses, but I doubt it would do anything for welding. One thing I liked about the design were the vents that vented from the side so that your face didn't sweat in it, or get sawdust or similar material under it. It is protection from physical damage rather than from light.
