When the power exceeds 40% (260W), the fan speed immediately jumps to 40% without any ramp curve. So when playing games it hums for a while, then 10 seconds later it does, then not again. If there was a better fan speed curve I wouldn't even notice it was noisy. But if it hums for 5 seconds, then doesn't for 3 seconds and then hums again, it's very hard to get used to. On exception, I dealt with returns and bought a Corsair RM650 - it costs 3 hundred less and is beautifully quiet.
