I chose my headphones mainly on the basis of three criteria: ANC, comfort and sound quality suited to spoken word content, such as podcasts, YouTube and general listening to speech. The EarFun Air Pro 4 caught my attention with its good value for money and fairly extensive range of ANC settings. In this respect, it offers very good value for money. For me, though, the main issue was comfort. Compared to the newer EarFun Air Pro 4+, the round earbuds didn’t fit nearly as well. Although they had the potential to provide a better seal, I found them more uncomfortable – they felt tighter and weren’t suitable for me to wear for long periods. Because of this, the headphones ultimately weren’t really practical for me, even though they’re not bad from a technical point of view. So this is a model that might suit some people, provided they’re happy with round eartips and want more ANC options for a reasonable price. For me, however, comfort was the deciding factor, and in that respect the Air Pro 4+ were the clear winners. Summary:
The EarFun Air Pro 4 aren’t bad earphones and offer some interesting ANC features for the price. For me, though, it was comfort that made the difference. The round earbuds didn’t fit me nearly as well as the oval tips on the EarFun Air Pro 4+, so I eventually opted for the newer Plus version. It offered me much greater comfort, and therefore proved more practical for everyday use.

As far as I’m concerned, they’re brilliant headphones. They work absolutely brilliantly with the iPhone. In terms of value for money, they’re far better than AirPods. The battery life is unbeatable, as is the sound quality; they stay securely in your ears thanks to the ear tips. As a Sony WH-1000XM4 user, I really appreciate the quality of the ANC on these headphones – it’s excellent. And switching between devices – and being able to pair multiple devices – is brilliant. The only drawback is that the ANC switches off occasionally and you can’t switch it back on. I don’t understand the logic behind when it’s possible and when it isn’t. But that’s a software issue, so hopefully it’ll be sorted out with an update.
