If you don't know what headphones to go for, I think these are the best for you. They certainly don't break somehow like the Razer Kraken. The microphone cannot be disconnected only down or up.
Super sound for a gaming headset
You can listen to music, a movie or the game in them.
The basses have it and sound good.
Microphone mute button.
A nice wheel to adjust the volume.
Really dampens ambient noise
A little heavier but that's because the leg piece is probably made of aluminum.

I recommend these headphones if you're a video game player. These headphones are also sufficient for listening to music or watching videos.
Decent sound for a gaming headset.
The microphone is fine for chatting or playing with friends.
Muting the microphone on the headphones.
They're quite comfortable.
My only criticism would be the weaker bass.
