When I bought it, the stated maximum noise level of 60db had an impact. I suppose so, but there seems to me to be quite a bit of difference between the 3 stages of suction. The maximum stage is relatively low noise, but I don't find it extra powerful. For normal cooking, the exhaust is sufficient. The flat surfaces and grid are easy to clean.
