Super helper when I don't feel like espresso in the morning and I don't have time for a filter.
You can play around with the extraction by setting the ratio of water to coffee (the machine weighs the coffee so you just add it by eye and it pours the exact amount in the set ratio. )

With a little practice and a gooseneck pot, you can make better coffee than this machine
The hole could be higher to get a carafe in there with a Melitta quad filter
