I soaked the whole cloth and threw it in the loft where the marten had been appearing. It's been quiet ever since and I haven't noticed it for about 3 months now :) so I guess it worked

I've tried several products that had either no effect or an insufficient one, and the eco-friendly materials of my new car still seemed to tempt martens to at least run across the engine, which I always noticed from the muddy tracks. With this product, which I always pour into the bottle with the sponge and place in the engine bay, I get no visits at all.
The only marten repellent that has actually driven the martens out of my car.

The martens didn't come. So maybe it's repelling them.
