It only works with the app, where you always have to select the required programme, which the device then remembers, and you can then use it without the app. But if you want to change the pulsation type, you have to open the app again and select a different programme. This is not written anywhere in the manual, however; I had to figure it out myself.
Even though it is the exact same device as the Bluetens Classic 2, you can only use the Pinktens with the Pinktens app, meaning the programmes are limited only to lower back pain, menstrual pain, and pelvic floor strengthening. If you are considering buying this for menstrual pain, I would go for the Bluetens Classic 2, which offers programmes for the whole body. Or even a different device altogether.
I used to go for electrotherapy as part of my physio, so I know how strong to set the pulses and where to place the electrodes, but I am not sure that an inexperienced person would be able to do this intuitively with this app to do it correctly without hurting themselves.
Overall, I would evaluate it as "pink marketing" – the device has potential, but due to a half-baked app, it goes to waste.

The app is half-baked; you can't choose a language – some parts are in Czech, some in English, and the UI is dismal, with some parts of the app not even finished.
