We had a lot of backpacks and briefcases to choose from. The backpack has a solid bottom with feet, so it stands quite straight when placed on the ground. Briefcases are much better, but it is a good compromise in terms of backpacks (the best of the backpacks was the Ergobag, which is a hybrid of a backpack and a briefcase, but we lack a side pocket for drinks and tightening the drawstring pocket is also an unthinkable thing for my son). We finally rejected the briefcase because from 2., max. The 3rd grade kids already want a backpack and given the prices, they don't make much sense to me. It has everything I wanted from a backpack/aktovka except a sliding back system, but other backpacks that have sliding backs have had more flaws for me. The hip belt was also a key point for me - it helps when running, the backpack doesn't jump sideways, it is basically just a solid mesh, but it also takes some weight and lightens the back.
The backpack has a solid bottom with feet, so when placed on the ground it stands relatively straight and did not fall over (the larger Boll fell, the smaller Boll stood but tended to fall over)
3 separate pockets - the back one has a book divider, great that it's elasticated so it pulls heavy textbooks as close to the back as possible
padded back is just enough to allow air to flow, but at the same time does not shift the center of gravity away from the back
super waist belt, which is very subtle and breathable and for a backpack of this type is enough, no bulky bags that usually get in the way, plus it can be completely removed when the child is going to fight
side pocket for drinks (some backpacks don't have them for some incomprehensible reasons)
well adjustable and ergonomically shaped straps with chest buckle
the smoothest functioning zipper of all the backpacks (not that others have scrubbed, but e.g. the Baagle zippered briefcase was very hard to open in the corner)
great reflectors
padded handle for carrying and other, just a strap for hanging
my son was thrilled with the zipper car
if he doesn't get tired of the design, he should last until 4-5. classes
fits my son perfectly, but that's individual (120 cm, 23 kg and athletic build)
I miss a key clip inside the front pocket
shoulder straps could be slid up and down like Boll or Ergobag
