The bar is metal, but the bottom part is as molded as the top. There is double sided tape stuck to the bottom which is about 1mm thick, so the whole strip will be "flaked", not cut correctly, doesn't fit the radius on the inside and on the other side it ends too soon after the first bend where in my experience any damage to the bumper from things being taken out of the boot only starts. I have returned the product for these reasons.
