If you want to use it to play from your mobile/tablet so you don't have much choice, only between 40x and 50x, because 20x and 30x need at least the basic amplifier, and if you don't have it so 30x+amp= price 40x, where you have better sound plus the possibility to replace the cable. And anyone who has had A-t hearing aids with a hard cable knows those three-meter cables are not pleasant for any use other than at home on the couch. The only reason why I might opt for 50x in the future is not even sound reproduction but rather more flexibility in turning and folding the hearing aids. and colour versions. It's irrelevant, but if they were white, I would definitely choose those. As a non-audiophile I can't tell the difference between 40x and 50x and the price difference is too big for such a jump. Personally, I think that if someone can distinguish the differences between 40x and 50x, then maybe he deserves the highest series of hearing aids, because it really takes the ears of a bat. I can't compare 40x with 30x, because neither iphone6 nor sgs5 without a hearing aid amplifier could sound those hearing aids fully. But if you are looking for a cheaper alternative from audio-technica, so about 20EUR cheaper are TAD400, if they made a tad400 design with m40x reproduction it would be perfect.
The headphones are comfortable on the head (although not as comfortable as the TAD400, but that's a completely different design), when folded they are really surprisingly small, the supplied twisted cable is too heavy for any great mobility, but that's fine, but that's the point of being able to put your own cable in - everyone can put one that suits them. Do these hearing aids sound better than the m30x? Definitely, just because you don't need an amplifier when playing from a mobile device. Do they play worse than the m50x? Subjective no. And I think even people with absolute hearing would say that those m50x don't sound 60 EUR better. M50x compete with hearing aids in levels up to 300 EUR, and 40x are not far behind them in my opinion
No possibility of fixation, when you put them on the table so in a few seconds they fold themselves, which is quite annoying.
No matter how I think about it, I can't think of anything else. These are my second hearing aids from a-t and certainly not the last.
