It works as expected. Of course it needs a relatively strong signal.

Alza Services. Complaint processed within 19 (! ) hours after submission. Also, no refund hassle.
It doesn't work in Windows 8.1, I didn't realize this until the second time I tried it. There are no drivers for W8.1 on the manufacturer's website. On older OS it works without problems.
I recommend the newer USB-N14 model, which already works on W8.1 and has much stronger antennas

Fully compatible with Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and its generic driver (no additional driver installation required). Connecting to a WiFi network or creating a hotspot to share a wired internet connection with your phone works great. I am creating the hotspot according to this tutorial: https://askubuntu.com/questions/762846/how-to-create-wifi-hotspot-in-ubuntu-16-04-since-ap-hotspot-is-no-more-working/762885#762885? newreg=44f9946ae0e54eecb2cb13bdee51b0eb
I definitely recommend it.
It does not support WiFi 802.11ac, hence the lower transfer speed on newer laptops and PCs. But my laptop only has USB 2.0 ports, so WiFi 802.11ac speed would be the same as WiFi 802.11n.

Works under Linux
After a while it disconnects and can't reconnect to wfii ( Linux )
At the time of writing this comment (23.10.2016) the Linux drivers were targeted to an older kernel, the compilation ended with errors

Good range and other floor. It is fast and compact. I have always inadvertently broken off larger external wifi antennas.
I'm a little annoyed that it's blinking. It disturbs me when working on my laptop.
