The instructions are inadequate and the parts are rather haphazardly divided into several bags, so assembly is not for an 8 year old. Suspension stutters, the model is quite fast for flat rides and falls apart on impact, taking a wire to the motor off, luckily it went to fix with solder. The information regarding the batteries needed is misleading, two AAs are in the remote and three AAs in the car. If you want to drive smoothly, I recommend the assembled car and not this kit. The parts are not compatible with the Lego.
