If you have several different cables on your stand and you don't want to wade through them to find what they are actually for, this is a pretty handy tool. I have been labeling my cables with a piece of paper and tape for a long time, but this makes my job easier, I can remove or rewrite the label at any time and it doesn't leave an unpleasant sticky residue from the cardboard on the cable.

The paper scrolls are not secured in any way against falling out (for example with Velcro) and the pocket for them is large. So the paper stitch falls out very easily. In anything other than static use, it's pretty much useless.
