I put one Varta brand AAA battery on to charge, and when I got home from work, the battery was scorched and melted into the charger's plastic slot. It was a miracle there wasn't a fire. In the charger's description, Alza claims that the charger has protection against short circuits, overheating, etc., but as you can see from the photos, that's obviously not true. I do not recommend, unless you plan on burning to death in your sleep if you charge overnight.
If you don't want to start a fire, don't buy this piece of junk!
While charging an AAA 800mAh Varta battery, the battery melted through the bay and got fused to it, completely burning/scorching in the process.
It's a miracle it didn't catch fire, the charger was on my bed at the time.
The short-circuit protection, overheat protection, etc. mentioned in the description are, in my experience, clearly not present. It's just false advertising.
