Functional, even when charging a maximum of 4 AA batteries, it heats up only slightly.
If anyone is having trouble removing the batteries, try it first before plugging the charger into a wall outlet. I can insert and remove batteries without the slightest problem.
Charges NiMH and NiCd. Which means, of course, that one has to check before charging. If the battery goes in and the charger is switched the other way around, it probably causes those overheated batteries that some reviewers write about.
