A fall does not completely shatter the packaging, as can happen with a plastic pb. But it can happen that it falls to the edge where the switch is. After a fall, the aluminium casing usually bends a little and can disable the button, e.g. can remain in the on position. You need to disassemble the pb (which is not difficult, but may be a problem for some) and flatten the aluminium casing. However, the durability of the packaging is on a completely different level, better than plastic. Every member of our family has one. When dropped on any other part (outside of the button), everything is fine and it doesn't bother anything even if the aluminum casing (tube) gets bent or dented a bit. It can withstand a fall on the pavement.
