Problem: You have a powerbank or adapter with USB-C output, a cable with a magnetic micro USB connector... and nothing charges.
Reason: Most USB-C ports are so-called. "intelligent" - will not start supplying voltage until it detects that a valid device is connected. This requires a 5.1 kΩ signal resistor between pin CC and GND. But...
❌ Most magnetic micro USB connectors (e.g. AlzaPower) does not have these resistors
❌ Cable does not signal connection → USB-C port does not turn on power
✅ USB-A output, on the other hand, always provides voltage → the cable works there without any problem
Solution?
Either: - use a USB-C → USB-A adapter (if you don't mind the compromise)
- or change the entire magnet system to one that supports full USB-C
- or... ditch the magnet and go classic
As it is, it works fine.
When connected to the magnetic micro USB connector it does not work, see the problem described below
