The reduction did not meet my expectations, it is unusable for me, I am considering returning it.
Speed test - conditions: Fast external NVMe SSD connected via a tested adapter to a PC with a USB-C port. Both the PC port and the disk box have experimentally verified speeds of 20 Gbit/s. The data transfer is therefore limited only by the speed of the reduction. It should be 10 Gbit/s. It is the value corresponding to the designation USB 3.2 Gen 2, which is the indication on the packaging and on the Alza website (I assume that it is Gen 2x1, if it were Gen 2x2, the reduction would have to be even 2x faster, i.e. 20 Gbit/s).
In a test on a USB-C port with a speed of 20 Gbit/s, the read speed was measured at only around 140 MB/s (about 1.1 Gbit/s, i.e. about a ninth of the expected speed). The enrollment was max. 1.06 GB/s (8.5 Gbit/s), which is close to the expected speed of 10 Gbit/s.
The second test was performed in the same setup, but the PC used a USB-C port with a speed of 10 GBbit/s. In this case, the results are again bad. While the read speed tripled to 433 MB/s (about 3.5 Gbit/s), the write speed dropped to 400 MB/s (3.2 Gbit/s). In addition, the external drive is only recognized in one of the two possible USB-C connector insertion positions (if at all).
Conclusion of the tests:
The data transfer rate through the reduction is only 1/3 or even 1/9 of the expected value.
In some cases, a device connected via a USB-C port adapter is not recognized. When the same external drive is connected to the same port on a PC with its own cable without a reducer, it works in both positions and at the full speed given by the port.
Cable flexibility falls short of expectations. Next time I will only buy round cables.
Solid (and thick) rubber cable surface. There is no risk of breakage or pulling out of the connectors at the ends.
The cable is flexible in one direction only (vertically, i.e. perpendicular to the surface of the cable). It cannot be bent horizontally.
Measured low data transfer rates.
In some USB-C ports on a PC, the reducer works in either one of the two possible insertion methods or not at all.
